My Weightloss Journey: Where it all began.......

Hello June!
So it's the start of a new month.
We are halfway through the year, remember those new year resolutions you wrote down in January... how many of them have you actually achieved?
So many of us start and end up not following through with the things in which we had set to do. Like I remember my goal at the beginning of this year was to travel and to look good whilst doing it.
So I had booked my flight for that new year and I found my way out of Ireland.
It was great.
But as for the looking good part, I have always struggled with my weight. Nobody understands. One day someone will tell me "o ga ju (as in 'wow' in yoruba), is that you Ife, you've lost weight" or my mom will say "you are not fat my daughter, you are just thick boned" , then I'd go out in one of those crop tops thinking I was skinny to only look at my pictures a few weeks down the line and see fat everywhere......as in...I WAS CLUELESS.
Like there were so many periods in my life where I'd start a new diet or workout regime and two weeks into it, I'd quit.
Where am I now with my goal?

What you need to do is to remember that no matter how far you think you've fallen away from that set goal and that you can still change the way it's going.
How?
Reflection is key.
Take a moment to write down the answers to the following questions:
1. What is your desired goal?
2. What changes can you make to your lifestyle to achieve your desired goal?
Then the next step is to
START TODAY, NOT TOMORROW, NOT NEXT WEEK, NOT EVEN IN THE
NEXT 5 MINUTES.
Once you have set that goal, stand up that very minute and do something to achieve that goal.
My personal example...
When I decided to start my weight loss journey, I started off with writing out my goals.
so for instance, My goal was to lose 5kg and then tone up.......( I didn't realize I was actually fatter than this and that I'd need to lose more than 5kg *sigh*)
Anyways once I had set out my goal, I didn't wait until tomorrow to start my journey, but rather I actually started that day. I googled things like 'diet for weight loss', 'things to add into my diet to lose weight', ' the best exercises to lose fat' and then the next day I found myself in the gym.

Get support! Luckily for me I had supportive people around me all the way, like S/O to Janet and Snesie (GYM BUDS) or MIKE, my gym friend who basically made my gym routine and showed me the ropes, made sure I was good. They actually secretly motivated me when I thought I couldn't do it no more.

Not only that, but I changed the way I ate. This was the hardest thing for me, even now I still struggle. I made sure to be disciplined in my ways. Because I found that discipline is what's needed for weight loss. That doesn't mean you should see it as you are in the military or something crazy like that but rather you should just ensure that you are eating right at every part of the day. LIKE I had cheat days, full days of just KFC or CHINESE. But I'd just made sure what I got wasn't so horrendous that I'd hate myself after it. Like I'd have the Zinger Burger at KFC and take the bun off or I'd eat my chicken satay sauce with mixed vegetables when I got Chinese but some days I just ate it the way it should be eaten lol.
The next step after this is to continue to reflect. Remember why you set that goal and if you've come this far then imagine the end results. Take pictures, videos if your goal is weight loss. Compare your new pictures to your old ones.

Encourage yourself today, it may have nothing to do with losing weight but be an achiever always. Don't quit!
GO FOR IT!

I've still got a long way to go but celebrate each step you take towards your goal.
A question I get asked all the time is: how much did I and do I weigh now? Well My Previous Weight was 85kg (when I was like 16 years old) and then went down to 71kg and stayed there and now my Current Weight is 64kg.
